I’m Krys McHugh a photographer, mental health advocate, blogger and marketing graduate with a background in journalism from Drumheller, Alberta. I love to hit events all over Alberta and capture them through the lens of my camera for bands and music lovers. Even though photography is both my hobby and my career, it is not my biggest passion. My first love has been and always will be music. I always say I traded my bass guitar in for my camera (which was much more lucrative for me!) Originally in 2017 I created @lookinglass_photography with a focus on portrait photography. With many life changes (including the passing of my husband, navigating CoVID lockdowns with my four children, loosing my portrait studio) I reluctantly accepted the position of being our local JR hockey team photographer last year. I didn’t think this would be prepping me for low light, concert action shots, at the time I was just excited to have my camera back in my hands regularly! After the season ended I was missing shooting and approached someone about volunteering at Loud as Hell and doing photos of the bands. This seemed to of launched me into the world of photography that I was always passionate about! As a young punk I would ride my skateboard around with a disposable camera in my pocket to take photos of my buddies at the skatepark or sneaking a way in to get photos at local punk shows. (I remember how stoked I was when I was able to sneak one into a Face to Face show in ‘99) When I went to school in Vancouver for journalism I had great dreams of being a photo journalist for some amazing music magazine! Fast forward many years and here I am, my photography page has become so over saturated with concert photos I expanded to this page to showcase my concert photography. Second Shooter/Assistant

Aspen was my assistant for over six years before she became my second shooter in the summer of 2022. As a mother-daughter team, she has been my sidekick helping pose clients, along with helping with lighting, and most of all bouncing creative ideas back and forth. She has become a staple for Through the Looking Glass Photography's creative process. Her creativity showed from a young age and her ability to learn the in's and out's of a camera came naturally. This Momma Bear maybe bias but you can see for yourself by checking out her work here... Not only did she take these stunning images but she also edited them on her own also.
