Drumheller Three Angels Poker Run '23
Saturday, August 19, 2023 riders from Central Alberta came together to honour the loss of three of their own. Trevor Pascoe, Rachel Sorenson and Kim Davidson tragically lost their lives February '21 and have become known as Drumheller's Three Angels. Friends and family members have come together each year since to raise money for amazing causes each year in honour of their memory. The first year the Three Angels Poker Run raised money for a local father who recently, suddenly lost his life leaving behind two young children and a wife. They have raised over $30,000 in the three years of doing the Poker Run and helped out both the Drumheller Fire and Rescue Department, as well as the Drumheller Titans Football team.
I have been honoured to donate to the cause before but this last year held special meaning to me as my son plays for the Titans football team. As a single mom, seeing my son involved in a team that not only focuses on skill but also a sense of belonging and brotherhood between players means a lot to me. I was lucky enough to connect with organizers Brady Vascarelli, Colleen MacDonald, Robbie and Justin Schinnour and be welcomed to the Poker Run to do photos.
The Poker Run consisted of riders starting at the Last Chance Saloon in Wayne with stops at Rockford, Acme and Morrin before ending at Yavis Prop Room in Drumheller for a silent auction and Live Music. Each stop had poker chips for the riders to collect and the ones who collected the most in the end won a donated prize. With there being a first, second and third prize I felt very honoured to have my photo session gift certificate as the first place prize.
I can't wait to be involved in this amazing event in the coming year, to meet more new people and have fun while we raise money for another amazing cause in honour of the Three Angels.
